#550 - Spirit of the Marathon

I'm not a runner.
I'm a jogger/walker (sometimes).

LOVED this movie.
I've never wanted to run a marathon before, but after watching this, I may have changed my mind (maybe).

It's on Netflix and Hulu...you should check it out.

Great music too!

#496 - Mad Hot Ballroom and More Than A Game

I love being able to watch movies "on demand" in Netflix. Here's 2 movies you can watch instantly that I would recommend:

Mad Hot Ballroom - documentary about inner city kids in NYC that learn to ballroom dance.
This was adorable and charming.  I'd been meaning to watch it for a while, but I thought it was about rich kids whose parents put them into ballroom dancing...so...not...the...case...fun movie!

More Than A Game - Documentary about 4 friends who are basketball players and how they won the national championship.  It has LeBron James in it.
Loved the editing in this...really, I would watch it just for that...but it had an amazing story too.  Don't worry, if you are not a big basketball fan, it's still a good watch.

#454 - The Cove

When I went out to the mailbox yesterday morning to get our netflix movie, I opened the envelope to see what movie we got (yes, I know I could check online, but I sort of like the surprise of opening it - does anyone else do that?)

It was The Cove.

I was sort of bummed because I didn't want to watch a documentary, I wanted more of a thriller or romantic comedy...something that I didn't have to think about.

Well, I'm here to tell you...I'm so glad we go The Cove in the mail.

It was riveting...powerful...stunning...shocking...

Reminded me why I got into the film/tv industry...to make a difference...to make people think...to open people's eyes to the world...

2 thumbs up (one from me and one from Pepe)

ps...casi, if you watch this you are going to need some tissues (ie:  being pregnant and your love for dolphins...it'll do a number on you)

pss...anyone that is not casi, casi's my sister and she's preggers

#437 - 7 lbs

I wish I was writing about how I lost 7 lbs, but that is not the case.

We watched Seven Pounds on Netflix and it was pretty good for being able to watch a film instantly. It's a drama, so don't say I didn't warn you.

#360 - The September Issue

The other day I did a little research for work by watching The September Issue (sometimes I think I have a pretty cool job).

If you like fashion, The Devil Wears Prada, The Hills (the first few seasons) or The City, I'm sure you'd love this documentary.

And since it was quote week, I had to share my favorite quote from the movie:

“Always keep your eyes open . . . never go to sleep in the car or anything like that, keep watching because whatever you see out the window, or wherever, it can inspire you.”

#329 - 4 movies

Here's 4 movies that Pepe and I have enjoyed in the past few months.

Believe it or not, this had a really good message to it.

I really like Ricky Gervais, funny movie and it also had a good message.

Cute, romantic comedy. Isn't what I expected.

I think we really liked this because it was based in Washington DC . . . lots of familiar places.

#276 - Food, Inc.

After reading this, I checked this movie out from Netflix.

I just watched it and was reminded why I became a vegetarian in the 7th grade (it only lasted for a few years, but I still am not a huge fan of meat.)

Seriously, go rent or check this movie out from the library. WOW!

#204 - 17 Again

Cheesy, but I laughed a lot while watching this with my sister Kar and her bff Kelsey. Reminds me of Never Been Kissed meets Freaky Friday (2 other movies I really like.)

#106 - The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

WOW, highly recommend this movie. Simple, yet amazing. I want to say more but don't want to spoil it for anyone (might seem like just another holocaust movie...but wait for it...give it a chance...you'll see.) That said, really go out and rent/watch this movie today.

#43 - Top 10 Christmas Movies . . . in my humble opinion

#10 - The Family Stone and/or Family Man (two different movies)

#9 - Home Alone

#8 - A Christmas Story

#7 - Miracle on 34th Street

#6 - The Chronicles of Narnia

#5 - Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3

#4 - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - my favorite part is when they cut down the tree.

#3 - A Nativity Story - I saw this last year and really liked it.

#2 - It's a Wonderful Life - it's a classic

Drum roll please . . . and number 1 is . . .

#1 - Elf - I like so many parts of this movie, but I think my favorite is when he first gets to New York and is so innocent. And then when he makes breakfast consisting of spagetti and syrup.

*These two movies below would be in my top ten Christmas movies, but not sure if they count, so I'm giving them an honorable mention.

Edward Scissorhands - I know this is more of a Halloween movie, but remember when he creates snow for the girl?

Borne Identity - hey, there's snow in it

And for the movies I'd like to watch this year:

Joyeux Noel
Polar Express
Scrooged
- with Bill Murray

Have you seen any of these? What are you top picks for the Holidays?

#11 - My local library . . . aka the free Blockbuster

When I had Baby O, for the first few weeks I was scared to even leave the house and if I did, I didn't go farther than 2 miles. Luckily, my local library is about 2 miles away. I'd try to make my way over there once a week or so. (WARNING, THIS POST IS LONG AND I AM GOING TO GIVE MY OPINIONS, SO FEEL FREE TO CLICK AWAY)

I starting by checking out books, because that's what libraries are for, right? Well, not where I live...it's just like Blockbuster, they have every movie you could think of...comedies, dramas, documentaries, foreign films, action movies, etc. Here's the movies I've watched since Baby O was born:

The Man Who Knew Too Little - anything with Bill Murray is funny
What About Bob? - watched with mom, see above
Vantage Point - great twist
The Waitress – dumb
Chalk – funny mockumentary about teachers
Dirty Rotten Scandrels - watched with mom, anything with Steve Martin is funny
UHF - ok
Clear and Present Danger – got to love Harrison Ford
Skelton Key – spooky - didn't see the ending coming ... Pepe had to explain it to me
Fire Wall – with Harrison Ford, sort of hokey.
The Man Who Knew too Much – with Jimmy Stewart
The Family Stone – loved this movie, good Christmas movie, watched with David
No Reservations - I have no reservations that I won't watch it again
Stick It - cheesy
Crazy Love – Documentary, very crazy
In Her Shoes – cute
Bounce – good, sad movie
Farenheit 9/11 –interesting
Walmart movie – dumb
The Prestige – magic movie, confusing
The Da Vinci Code – always a good movie
No End in Sight – about Iraq war
Across the Universe - too much singing
Lords of Dogtown - fun
Music and Lyrics - cheesy
Super Size Me - I never want to eat a chicken nugget again
Cellular - cheesy
Spellbound - good doc
For Your Consideration - funny
The Baby Whisperer - this is educational
The Aviator
The First Years Last Forever - educational, but good
The Happiest Baby on the Block - highly recommend this for any new parent
The Golden Compass - ok
P.S. I Love You - don't wast your time
Dan in Real Life
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium - cute kid's movie
Deja Vu - good

Writing that, I just realized I watched way too many movies. Baby stepping it all the way.
