#99 - 2 teeth, missing teeth and no braces

Baby O has two teeth (since 12/31/08)

nephews and nieces are losing teeth at an alarming rate

Pepe finally got his braces off and his teeth look amazing!
(and don't tell him i posted this, long story about why one tooth is darker (it involves a baseball bat))

#98 - Jumbo Rice Krispies

I work in television, so I should know better, yet I'm still a sucker for commercials with babies.

I just saw (on the Food Network of course) the Jumbo Rice Krispies commercial with a mom feeding them to her baby, now I want to go buy them for Baby O.

Congrats Kelloggs you just captured another mom's (albeit small) pocketbook.

Have you heard of these? I think they'd be fun to make rice krispy treats with them.

Shoot, now the Food Network is talking about Malt - O - Meal, I love Malt O Meal. Must go to bed.

#97 - Sharing Time

I'm probably the last one to figure this out, but I love being able to share stuff from different blogs that I read. I subscribe to 163 blogs (and counting and yes, I know that's a lot, or is it?) in Google Reader and whenever I want to share something I read, I just click "share". It then pops up on my shared items page for all to see.

There's a link from my blog, right over there in the top right of my blog, it's called, "What I'm Watchin".

I love looking at Kami's (from No Biggie) shared items. Do you have a shared page? If so, let me know, I'd love to follow it.

#95 - Vita Baby

I just can't stand having to pay almost $1 for a little jar of baby food, so I decided to make my own with the Vita-Mix (if you don't have one of these, get one, because it is the best blender ever!)

I boiled two sweet potatoes, stuck them in the blender, added some water and magic. Enough baby food for 2 weeks.

Reminds me, 2 years ago, I loved watching these blender videos. Not the Vita-Mix, but pretty cool.

#94 - God's Opinion

Taken a few days ago, before work, Baby O and I went on a walk in the snow.

My new favorite quote:
"A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on."

I love my little Baby O, and the cute red hat grandma gave him. You know how I love fun hats.

#93 - Cake Mix Cookies

made these tonight.

1 package of cake mix (any flavor-i had a red velvet cake mix that expired 8/07)
2 eggs
1/3 cup of oil (i used olive oil)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine cake mix, eggs, oil and vanilla. Beat until well blended.

Drop by teaspoon about 1 inch apart onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until done.

i made a simple butter cream frosting and made these into sandwich cookies, but they are delicious by themselves (even with an expired cake mix.)

ps, don't worry, i wouldn't serve these expired cookies to anyone except Pepe, even though they taste really good.

Here's the finished product:

(actual cookie is smaller in real life)

#91 - Crazy Pregnancy Belly Pics

Tell me, if you've had a baby or are going to have one, did you take pictures of your naked belly?

I did, I just wanted to remember what it looked like. But I don't think you'll ever see them :)

ps, if you don't know who the person is pictured above, you must have been living on another planet for the past 3 weeks.

#88 - Matching socks are highly overrated

Baby O's feet and my feet
circa 09/2008

Like mother, like son. Yes, I'm teaching my son at an early age that matching socks aren't worth the time or effort. I think mismatched socks are fun.

What about you? Do you ever wear mismatched socks?

#86 - Baby Yoga

Baby O is so flexible...here he is doing the downward dog. Ok, maybe it's not exactly right, but I'm his mom and I'm allowed to think it is.

(Don't ask me why he is missing a sock and his pants?! I'm just glad he's wearing a diaper and his onesie is on the right way, because, no joke, 2 days ago I had him in an outfit backwards all day. Halfway through the day I realized it, but I was too lazy to change it . . . go figure.)

#85 - So easy, Banana Upside Down Cake

I was inspired by this and I had some bananas I needed to use. So I modified this recipe and came up with the recipe below.

14 tablespoons of butter (almost 1 cup) butter at room temperature
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 to 3 ripe firm bananas peeled and cut diagonally
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs at room temperature
2 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
1 cup milk

Preheat your oven to 350

You need a round cake pan, non stick is preferable

Place 6 tablespoons (you could probably just use 4 tablespoons) of butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar into your cake pan, and melt on the stovetop, mixing constantly until it incorporates and becomes like liquid carmel.

Arrange your banana slices in the carmel mixture overlapping

Beat remaining butter and 1 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a bowl

Add vanilla and eggs and beat until smooth

Add baking powder/salt, mix

Add 2 cups flour (I used 1/2 a cup of cake flour) and milk

Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to butter mixture

Spoon carefully over the bananas

Bake until puffy and brown about an hour (this can vary, check at 50 minutes)

Transfer to rack and cool

Invert onto cake plate or serving platter

It was so good, even Pepe loved it and he's hard to please. Better than Pinapple Upside Down Cake.

#83 - crayon crafts

found here.

When I was young we lived across the street from an elementary school. One day my sister and I decided to look in a big dumpster at the school and we found hundreds of crayons. Being young entrepreneurs, we decided to wrap them up in plastic baggies and sell them. I don't remember if we sold any, but we could have made the cute craft above.

#80 - Boys will be boys

I love being a mom to my baby boy...I'm probably in for some trouble when he gets older.

This is from a forwarded email, but I thought it was cute to share:

And you also find out interesting things when you have sons, like...
1.) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2! .) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3.) A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words 'uh oh', it's already too late.

8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9.) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36- year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.

11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12.) Super glue is forever.

13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.) VCR's do not eject 'PB & J' sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.) The fire department in Austin! , TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.) 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

25.) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.
