#139 - Dutch Farmer's Market
I've lived in this area for almost 6 years, but it wasn't until last year that I discovered the Dutch Country Farmer's Market. If you live close by (or if you come to visit) I highly recommend stopping by this market.
The outside doesn't look too inviting, but when you walk in, it's like something you never seen before (the outside doesn't do it justice.) Smoke from the fried chicken and the Dutch girls at the bakery filling donut orders fill are on one side of the market. Like a busy New York street, the market is brimming with people weaving in and out from one another, standing in lines, sampling the cheeses and apple cider. As you make your way through the market, you'll pass by a deli, pretzel stand, cake stand, ice cream stand, resturant, farmer's market with fresh veggies/fruits, lemonade stand, another deli, a candy shop, dry goods area and a stand with fresh cheeses/milk.
Here's some finds:
Potato Wedges - $1

Bowl of Snicker's Ice Cream - $1.58
I recommend the Peanut Butter Ripple Ice CreamWe also had rolls and chicken wings, but no pics.
Some other great finds I recommend:
Apple Fritters - Pepe's favorite
Apple Butter
Low-fat cheese (all the cheeses are good)
Sour Cream Donuts
Flax Seeds (doesn't really fit the above items, but they are a good deal.)
Anyone else like the Dutch Market? What do you like there?

#138 - Orange Baby
I cut them up in small bites for him, but he was getting impatient and wanted the whole thing. I conceded. It was sort of fun to watch try to eat an entire orange and bonus . . . it kept him busy for a while.
Not so bonus - OJ all over the place.

#135 - Mulch
I never thought I would be writing about a blog post about mulch.
Friday after work, Pepe, Baby O and I decided to cram into our small truck and head over to our local dump (ok, it has a fancier name, but I don't remember) to load up on the free mulch they have. (We are trying to get the most out of our crazy high county taxes we pay.) The dump closes at 8pm, and we got in right at 7:58pm. Pepe loaded up our truck super fast, but we weren't ready to go until about 8:06pm. As we got to the gate, we realized that we had been locked in.
I thought, "wow, this will be fun to blog about, we're spending the night at the dump". No worries, we found out how to get out, so no fun exciting story to tell.
I then thought, "heck, I can still blog about mulch, we got it for free," but quickly decided that no one would want to read about that.
But I digress.
So, here's the real reason I am writing this post and yes, it's about mulch.
Yesterday, our good friends' little boy fell from their 3rd story window. When I first heard, I was so scared/worried for him. I was praying my heart out for them (along with many others.)
Miraclously, he survived (and so far, no life threatening injuries.)
Guess what, he fell onto a fresh bed of mulch.
My friend said they had just put it down last week.
Now, who isn't loving mulch right now!?!
It's amazing how God works in mysterious ways.
Here's another amazing story (not anyone I know, but friends of friends.)

#128 - Chocolate Covered Strawberries
2 weeks ago, I made the best chocolate chip cookies ever and had some extra chocolate chips left over. I also had a bunch of strawberries I needed to use (I had bought the big Costco carton of strawberries.) (chocolate chips + microwave) x sweet strawberries = Yummy!
(wow, i blog about food a lot)

#127 - Flushing the toilet
Did I stop Baby O from playing in the toilet? Nope, I was so proud of him, he flushed the toilet 3 times in a row. (don't worry, i sanitized him pretty well after this and Pepe says it's one of the cleanest places in the house, not sure about my house?)
Another reason to celebrate, we got a new toilet seat a few days ago. Every time we've move into an older house, we spring $5-$12 for a new toilet seat. It's such a nice feeling knowing only you and the people you know have sat there. This time around it took us over a year to get the new seat (not sure why it took so long?) but it's done and it feels so great.

#126 - I want to live near . . .
Last week we were out in California for my sister's wedding. We stopped by my brother-in-law's apartment and this is the view when you step out into the street from his place. Oh, how I want to live by the ocean. (someday... someday)
