We have 11 chickens now. . . and Oster isn't afraid of them at all!

#582 - Free Cafe Rio

(sorry, posting a lot about Cafe Rio) but it was free today at the Grand Opening and surprisingly uncrowded!

 That's my sister in law ordering a salad. There was no one in front of us in line.

 I got the soup!

It got a little crowded as we left, but I'm going back tonight!

#579 - Mini Easter Egg Piñata

I'm working on these tissue eggs today. ( Inspired by Not Martha.)  I wanted mine to be a little more natural, so I'm using a flour/water mixture (that's why mine have a powdery look in places) instead of a fabric softner starch (thanks Cathy!) like Martha.

#578 - packing for grandma's

 Sorry Mom, this is not an announcement that we are coming to visit (I want to visit, but 2 kids on a plane by myself for 10 hours...yikes).  

The other day, Oster found a suitcase and packed some diapers, socks and costumes (not clothes, just costumes.)  He said, "let's fly to grandma's house."

He rolled his suitcase out, I buckled him in his carseat and he immediately fell asleep.

#577 - keyless entry battery

Over a year ago my keyless  entry clicker stopped working. 

For some reason, I thought it would cost hundreds of dollars to get a new one, so I just stopped using it. 

Then last Friday I decided to pull the clicker apart.  All I needed was an A23 battery that cost $3.  

I'm so happy now!  My only question is, why did I wait a year to figure this out?!

#576 - Eggs before the Chickens

 I'm loving this baby outfit with an egg on it!

And speaking of eggs, those eggs above are from our chickens that we just bought!  Aren't they pretty? 

We now need to build a chicken coop...any good ideas? (right now our chickens are staying with their previous owners while we build their home.)

#575 - Cat Eye Glasses Onesie

Whenever I see cat eye glasses, one of my college roommates comes to mind.  She could totally pull them off and she didn't even need to wear them. 

So, when I saw this cute cat eye glasses onesie tutorial, I knew that I had to make this for her new baby girl. 

I used a freezer stencil for the glasses.  I painted it in with black and glitter fabric paint to give it that old black plastic sparkle feel.  I used the back of a paint brush to make dots for the chain/necklace.

#574 - Green Smoothie

We love smoothies and recently, I've been sneaking spinach and carrots into them.  And surprisingly it tastes really good.  I learned to blend up my spinach and freeze it in ice cube trays, so it makes it so easy to just pop these into the blender.

Notice the "+" cubes of spinach.  I got the mold from Ikea.
