#11 - My local library . . . aka the free Blockbuster

When I had Baby O, for the first few weeks I was scared to even leave the house and if I did, I didn't go farther than 2 miles. Luckily, my local library is about 2 miles away. I'd try to make my way over there once a week or so. (WARNING, THIS POST IS LONG AND I AM GOING TO GIVE MY OPINIONS, SO FEEL FREE TO CLICK AWAY)

I starting by checking out books, because that's what libraries are for, right? Well, not where I live...it's just like Blockbuster, they have every movie you could think of...comedies, dramas, documentaries, foreign films, action movies, etc. Here's the movies I've watched since Baby O was born:

The Man Who Knew Too Little - anything with Bill Murray is funny
What About Bob? - watched with mom, see above
Vantage Point - great twist
The Waitress – dumb
Chalk – funny mockumentary about teachers
Dirty Rotten Scandrels - watched with mom, anything with Steve Martin is funny
UHF - ok
Clear and Present Danger – got to love Harrison Ford
Skelton Key – spooky - didn't see the ending coming ... Pepe had to explain it to me
Fire Wall – with Harrison Ford, sort of hokey.
The Man Who Knew too Much – with Jimmy Stewart
The Family Stone – loved this movie, good Christmas movie, watched with David
No Reservations - I have no reservations that I won't watch it again
Stick It - cheesy
Crazy Love – Documentary, very crazy
In Her Shoes – cute
Bounce – good, sad movie
Farenheit 9/11 –interesting
Walmart movie – dumb
The Prestige – magic movie, confusing
The Da Vinci Code – always a good movie
No End in Sight – about Iraq war
Across the Universe - too much singing
Lords of Dogtown - fun
Music and Lyrics - cheesy
Super Size Me - I never want to eat a chicken nugget again
Cellular - cheesy
Spellbound - good doc
For Your Consideration - funny
The Baby Whisperer - this is educational
The Aviator
The First Years Last Forever - educational, but good
The Happiest Baby on the Block - highly recommend this for any new parent
The Golden Compass - ok

Writing that, I just realized I watched way too many movies. Baby stepping it all the way.

#10 - Bald Baby Heads

At church on Sunday, two people, yes, two people ask me if I shaved Baby O's head....hum....NO! Really, what were they thinking, what new mom would shave their baby's head?

That brings me to bald baby heads (of course, attached to a cute baby body), they are my favorite. I honestly, think that bald babies are so cute, they have this old man look. Baby O is over 4 months old and doesn't really have any hair except this long patch (that is very blond, although it might have a hint of red) that is growing out of the scar he got from the monitor attached to his head during his birth.

And I save money on baby shampoo.

#9 - No Voting Lines

I almost didn't vote today because everyone was telling me that they waited in line for 1-2 hours...yikes! I called Pepe on my way home and told him to meet me at the polling place with Baby O, so that I could feed him them vote.

When I got to the polling place there was nobody there. Baby O was asleep, so I ran inside got my voting card and voted in less than 5 minutes. It would have been less but because I still have big fingers (they got swollen with Baby O and never got back to normal size) and I clicked on the wrong thing...took me a couple minutes to figure it out.

What was up with the question about landfills? It was so confusing and I didn't know how to vote on that issue.

For my own memory sake, I wanted to write down my voting history:

1996 - the first year I could vote...voted at college in a dorm
2000 - I was in Brazil and didn't vote (took me too long to figure out absentee voting)
2004 - Went to the polling place after work, but I arrived a minute after the polls closed
2008 - 5 minutes to vote, easiest yet

I won't say who I voted for (although I was really close to voting for Nadar), but here is my new favorite website. My favorite thing to click on is the sofa and globe.

#8 - Skype

If you have a camera on your computer, you've got to get Skype. It's so fun to talk to my fam with this. And my padres can see Baby O in "almost" real time. Above is a pic of the padres talking to me on Skype yesterday.

#7 - Mexican Hat

We told my family we were pregnant with Baby O while we were all in Mexico together last Christmas.

My mom was so excited, she started buying baby gifts right away. In La Bufadora, Ensenada, Mexico, my mom bought Baby O this hat. How did she know he was going to be a boy? Mother's intuition?

So cute! So warm! Thanks Mom!

#6 - Halloween Candy

#5 - My editor Stacey

Today, I got to edit with one of my favorite editors, Stacey. We've worked together for 3-4 years. Today, Baby O got to stop by and edit with her too...they worked great together. He kept kicking her :)

About Stacey:

* She's a great friend, who is very thoughtful. She brought me strawberries, salt and vinegar chips and tomatoes right after I had Baby O

#4 - Playmats

I'm sitting her writing this, while Baby O is trying to roll over on his playmat (the butterfly playmat). He's now able to grab the dangling things on it and it keeps him entertained.

We have 3:

a red/black/white one

a colorful butterfly one

a colorful one that has things that move up and down

Now Baby O has squirmed halfway off the mat, I better go feed the hungry boy.

#3 - LOUD Family

Pepe and I (and Baby O before he was born) had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with this family. I met them through work and then they invited Pepe and I over to their campground for dinner. They made yummy chicken over the fire and we hung out with them for a while just chatting about our lives. I hope they stop by when they are in town again, we now have a place big enough to host them.

If you want to see them, they are on TLC (tonight) and some other days too.

#2 - Honey Wheat Braided Twists

I bought a huge (I bought mine at costco, but this gives you an idea) box of Frito Lay "healthy" chips. 30 bags of chips . . . yum! Baked Lays, Baked Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles, Baked Doritos . . . and Rold Gold Honey Wheat Twists (pretzels).

Usually, I do not like pretzels, so the bags the twists where the last ones in the box. But, when I tried them, oh so yummy! You have got to try these. And there are a lot of them in the bag.

I want to go get another bag of these right now.
